It's Facebook Safety Check Time

Saturday June 7, 2008
Unless you've been living under a rock, you're probably aware that Facebook and MySpace are hot topics among teens these days. They're just two of many social networking sites on the Web, and they're two of the most popular.

Whether you're new to these sites or you've been on them for years, take a second to do a safety check. What kind of information are you giving out to people in your network? How careful are you about accepting friend requests? Are you posting racy photos on your page? How much spam do you get?

Not only is a safety check a good idea simply for protecting yourself from stalkers and other creepy people, it's a good idea to preserve your reputation. Even if you delete your page tomorrow, there may still be a record of what you posted there one, five or even ten years down the road.
