Teen Pregnancy in the News
The news that Bristol Palin, the 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, is pregnant has made a big splash in the media over the past few days. Earlier this year, TV star Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy was all over the news, followed by a "pregnancy pact" among teen girls at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts.
Meanwhile, it looks like the number of teen pregnancies is on the rise, according to the newest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Though it's too early to tell for sure, it's making a lot of people wonder if teens are receiving enough information about sex and birth control at school.
What's your opinion: Should reporters leave pregnant teenagers alone, even if they're famous? What kind of information about sex would you like to see at your school? Share your ideas in the Comments area below this post.

I’m only twelve years old, and I think that getting pregnant at such an early age is irresponsible. Although my Mother had me when she was 16, I still think that it isn’t right. I don’t think that the media should be talking a whole bunch of teen pregnancies because many girls even my age want kids or whatever just because their “idol” did.
What Miley Cyrus, and all those teen stars are doing is just making the United States more grown up. Well they think they are grown.
If you havent realized how many ten year old girls want boyfriends, and wear make up then you haven’t learned a thing…
Larissa, I totally agree with you. The matter is that I am for a teen pregnancy when it’s assured that the parents can stand on their own feet, have their own sure income, their own home etc.
