Wii Like It: Teens and Video Games

Monday September 22, 2008

It may not come as a big surprise to you if you're a video gamer, but it came as a big surprise to the media: Almost all American teens play video games. Many of you play 'em every day, according to new research by the Pew Internet & American Life Project.

The researchers looked at teens' use of popular gaming systems such as PlayStation, Xbox and Wii, as well as computer gaming and gaming applications for cell phones. A whopping 97% of 12-to-17-year-olds surveyed considered themselves video gamers, and 80% reported playing five or more different types of games, from puzzles and brain teasers to sports and action games.

Some of the most popular games at the moment, according to the survey, are Guitar Hero, Madden NFL and Halo 3. Do you agree? Which ones are your favorites? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below.
