Do You Want to Be on the "Slut List"?

Hazing the new freshman class kind of comes with the territory every school year, but some seniors get downright nasty about it.

For instance, at one school in New Jersey every September, the senior girls publish a "slut list." The list calls out a bunch of freshman girls as "sluts" or "whores", and says other crude, untrue stuff about them .

The weird thing about the slut list? Some freshmen girls are actually proud they're on it, while other frosh are bummed they were left out.

Since when is the word "slut" a status symbol?

There's a lot of healthy ways to get noticed by upperclassmen - like joining clubs, making friends and being a fun, friendly person. The idea that some frosh might feel they need to act slutty to get attention from seniors is totally heartbreaking.

If you're a freshman this year, do your best to stay above the nasty drama that upperclassmen might try to stir up. It never hurts to be the mature one.
