Why Did 18-Year Old Charice Get Botox?

18-year old pop singer Charice recently admitted to getting Botox in preparation for her role on the next season of Glee.

Her rep says it was just to treat jaw pain, but her dermatologist (who also gave her a skin-tightening Thermage procedure) says it was to change the shape of her face, which she noticed was "getting wider."

Meanwhile, in case you haven't noticed, Charice is super cute. And even if she got Botox for legit medical reasons (I'm skeptical), now she has to listen to people talking about her "widening" face...so sad.

When you see people on television, don't forget that they have whole teams of people who get paid to try to make them look better - sometimes in demeaning or dangerous ways. Even girls who are naturally very pretty are teased and poked into versions of themselves that no one could ever compete with.

You can let someone like Charice's stardom inspire you to work hard at what you're good at and achieve your own form of fame, but don't get jealous of the way they look. There's a good chance they're jealous of people who don't have the wideness of their jawlines debated in the international press.
