| sososavvy | What can teens who are not black or white do to help find an inexpensive foundation or conceler? How hard is it to blend your own? |
The most important thing about choosing a foundation is being able to test it on your skin to see how it looks. Sometimes you waste alot of money buying inexpensive foundations at a drugstore that you cannot actually test. You can purchase foundations at a drugstore if there are testers. Just make sure you look for yellow toned foundation. I truely believe that it's the most natural tone that works with everybody's skin. Sometimes I recommend saving your money and buying foundation in a department store, and your lips and shimmers in a drugstore. |
What colors work best with; dark complexions, medium complexions, fair complexions, freckles, Asian skin tones, African-American skin tones, olive skin tones, Native-American skin tones? |
The darker your complexion, the deeper your color tone should be. Look for deep plums and chocolates for darker skins. Stick with roses and tawnys for medium skins. And for the palest skin, go with light colors like pale pink or sand pink. Pastel colors look beautiful on fair or ivory skin. |

More general question now... |
| Sugargal | What do you think are beauty essentials for the average teen? |
Skin care is the most important. And as far as makeup, a good foundation that is used only to cover a blemish. Teens don't need foundation all over their skin but do need perfect zit cover. And as far as color, sheer color on eyes, cheeks, and lips is the way to go. You can never go wrong if you go for sheer. Eyeliner is great for parties but definately not for school. |
You say skin care is the most important, but at what age should teens start taking care of their skin? What products do they need and which ones can they skip? |
Proper skin care begins at 12 with the right cleansing products. Dry skin needs cream but you don't need to spend a ton of money when you're a teen. One cream will do, you don't need a seperate eye and face cream. |
