Holiday Heartbreak
If The One You Love is M.I.A.

From , former About.com Guide

So it’s February 14th again and this time you’re hooked up, but cruel mistress that fate is, you still find yourself facing the day alone. How do you make it through the 24hour love-fest without losing your mind? Simple, you start by looking at what you have that so many others do not, namely a steady date. Sure today you’re on your own, but you’re only alone in body – your spirit is owned by love. Does that sound too corny? Let’s put it another way… get over yourself! You’re in love and you’re loved back. So what if the two of you are apart today? Love knows no boundaries and you don’t need to be physically with the object of your affections to bask in the warm glow of amore. Kick back, relax and enjoy thinking about the one you love. Sure you miss your steady on Valentine’s Day and in a perfect world you’d be living out the Hallmark holiday dream, but on this stretch of the long and winding road of life you’re not really going it alone so think about that instead of the fact that your not on an expensive rose-filled date. And just because you’re not together doesn’t mean you can’t make contact. We live in the 21st century. This is a high-tech era. Cell phones have made it nearly impossible to NOT contact somebody you love whenever it strikes your fancy to do so. So call your sweety on the phone and let them know that they’re on your mind. Are you getting no answer? Are they out of the service area? Leave them a message. Even if they don’t get it on Valentine’s Day they will pick it up at some time and will know that you were thinking of them on the day of love. And while you’re at it have you checked your voicemail/e-mail/text messages? There is probably a little love message waiting for you too! So buck up and focus on what you have rather than what is missing and even if you can’t connect with the current love-of-your-life on this V-Day take comfort in the fact that you have somebody to connect with on the other 363 days of the year.
