Question: He is so nice in private, via text/e-mail/IM but when I see him he ignores me!

Answer: He is a loser or a player and either way he sucks. Sorry to be blunt but any guy who really likes a girl doesn’t play these types of head games. It may be that his friends don’t approve of you (sorry) and that he is embarrassed to have feelings for you - lame! If that is the case you can wait for him to grow up and face down peer pressure in favor of following his heart or you can move on. I recommend moving on, but really it’s your call. Now another, less heinous reason for this behavior is shyness. If he and his friends are just starting to date or notice girls (usually this means he is in his pre- or early teens) he may just feel intimidated by the feelings you bring out. If this is the case you can do one of two things, you can wait for him to grow up (sound familiar?) or you can make the first move and talk to him in front of his friends the same way you would in chat/text/e-mail. If he still holds back try asking him why he is acting so weird and do it in front of his buds. If he blows you off go with it and ignore him in private until he is willing to acknowledge you in public, but be sure to tell him that is what you are doing because guys can be dumb about these things sometimes. If he never comes around consider yourself lucky to have found out that he is a coward BEFORE really getting involved and find a more worthy guy.
