Teens Fighting Violence with L.O.V.E.

Sporting the acronym ‘L.O.V.E.’, Leave Out ViolencE is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on teens and seeks to reduce violence by creating local teams of youth with one important mission - to deliver a message of non-violence. Twinkle Rudberg, a woman whose husband was murdered in cold blood by a 14-year-old boy, formed this Canadian based organization in 1993. When Rudberg learned that her husband’s killer had himself been a victim of violence in the home she turned her anger and grief into a personal mission of education and reform. Hoping to draw attention to the effects of the cycle of violence in our communities and the link between ‘private violence’ (violence in the home) and ‘public violence’ (violence in our streets) Rudberg formed a peer-to-peer task force in which teens talk to teens about their own experiences with violence. Victims, perpetrators and survivors all band together to spread the message that the cycle of violence can be stopped and that it is the responsibility of all people, teens included, to put on the brakes.

L.O.V.E. has four main programs that work to help teens reject violence in their lives and in the world at large. These programs are;

School & Community Outreach Teams
Violence Prevention Committees
