Knowing how to make a good first impression is an essential tool for making new friends, getting dates, and going on job interviews as a teen. Here are a few quick tips for teens on how to make a good first impression:

  1. Stand up straight and take a deep breath.
  2. Take a quick look at the person (or people) you want to impress.
  3. Walk toward them with a confident stride.
  4. As you approach, look them straight in the eye and hold your gaze for two or three seconds.
  5. Smile as you shake their hand firmly.
  6. Introduce yourself by name and tell them that you are pleased to meet them.
  7. If you don't know their name already, ask for it.
  8. Before you part ways, try to repeat the person's name in a natural way, such as "Nice to meet you, Bob" or "See you soon, Sarah."
  9. Listen and make eye contact as the other person talks.
  10. Be confident, and be relaxed. Your attitude and energy are contagious!
