How Did the Breakup Go Down?
We had the perfect relationship, we really did.
It came out of nowhere, we never even fought.
But one day he told me that he had a crush on this other woman, had since high school, and that it didn't mean anything. That he loved me, and only me. That he'd never before felt the way he felt about me, but he needed some time off to figure out what he wanted in life.
After a week of agony we talked again. He told me that though he'd said he loved me, he'd come to realize he didn't mean it. And that we were over. That he hoped we could stay friends. That it wasn't me, it was him.
How Did You Get Over the Breakup?
I haven't gotten over it yet. It's been three months and I'm not even close to over it. I still cry weekly, if not more often.
Everything reminds me of him, everything makes me ache. I hated him for a while, but I've gotten over that now. I regret him. I don't regret our relationship, I regret opening myself up to be hurt.
And I hate that I can't get over him.
Lessons Learned
- Just because everything's right doesn't mean everything can't go wrong.
- "I love you" isn't a promise.

- The relationship may not last forever but the pain might.
