When Did It Happen?
About a year ago in summer, I was 15 years old
Where Did It Happen?
On a field near my house
What Had You Been Drinking?
a mix of spirits in a sports bottle
What Went Wrong?
I'd only been drinking for about an hour but because it was so strong it suddenly hit me and I couldn't control myself. I was rolling round on the floor and shouting and I didn't have a clue anything was wrong. The next moment I was awake in hospital with my mum next to my bed crying. I'd got alcohol poisoning and been rushed into A&E by my mate's mum, I was covered in sick and cuts and felt like death. I couldn't see properly and my stomach was burning.
What were the Consequences?
It took me 3 days to recover, when I went into school I couldn't face it. Some guys had seen me and it was all round school. People would just stare at me and laugh down the corridor so I ended up running out crying. My thought process was the scariest thing, I couldn't finish sentences and forgot how to say certain words, it was like my brain had completely clouded over. The doctor told me that brain cells would have been damaged, they just didn't know how many. My parents were more upset than angry, I nearly died. I also lost all trust from them.
Lessons Learned
- Know your limits and DON'T try to push them, there's a very fine line and it's not worth crossing it
- Trust from your parents is what makes teenage life easy, they'll let you go out, you can talk to them about anything and for me now that is gone, it's what I miss the most. It takes years to build and only a second to break.
